British Airways New Club Suite Review: Is It Finally Worth the Upgrade? (LHR to Mumbai)
For years, British Airways Business Class (Club World) had a reputation for being... well, a bit dated. The old "dorm room" style seats where you had to stare at your neighbor were hardly cutting edge.
But recently, we got to fly the new British Airways Club Suite on a 9-hour flight from London Heathrow to Mumbai. Is it actually an upgrade? Or just a new coat of paint?
Here is our honest opinion on the seat, the sleep quality, and the service.
1. The Seat: A Private Room at 35,000 Feet
The biggest change is the layout. Gone is the 2-4-2 "Yin-Yang" configuration. The new Club Suite is a 1-2-1 Reverse Herringbone layout, meaning every single passenger has direct aisle access.
The Door: Yes, it has a door! While it doesn't go all the way to the ceiling, it adds a massive amount of privacy. You feel like you are in your own little cocoon rather than a crowded cabin.
Storage: There is plenty of space for your gadgets, passport, and amenities right at your seat.
The Tech: A huge, responsive touchscreen TV (much better than the old fold-out screens) and reliable Wi-Fi made the flight fly by.
2. Sleeping & Comfort
We tested the "Bed Mode" fully. It lies completely flat, and the bedding provided is comfortable.
The Verdict: It’s good, but is it the best? Compared to the Delta One Suite, we felt the British Airways seat was slightly tighter around the shoulders for bigger guys (we are over 6ft).
The Footwell: Unlike the old seats where your feet were free, your feet go into a cubby hole here. It’s spacious enough, but something to note if you have large feet.
3. The Service & Food
This is where British Airways often shines, and this flight was no exception.
The Crew: Friendly, attentive, and happy to chat.
The Food: We had the lamb curry and the artichoke soup. Both were restaurant-quality.
The Drinks: As Braden noted in the video, it’s an "all-you-can-drink" premium service. Whether you want champagne or a custom cocktail, they keep them coming.
Is It Better Than the Old Club World?
100% Yes. The old seats felt cramped and awkward (stepping over people's legs to use the restroom is never fun). The new Club Suite feels like a modern, competitive business class product.
While we might still give a slight edge to Delta One for pure seat width, the British Airways Club Suite is a fantastic way to fly long-haul. It turns a 9-hour flight from something you dread into an event you actually look forward to.
